Clothing
- Bring comfortable clothing for the academic sessions and for general social activities. Remember the Summer School is four days and three nights.
- The first evening of the Summer School will be spent at an outdoor activity centre for which you have completed your activity option form. We strongly advise that you bring a change of clothes for this, for example track suit, old clothes that can get dirty and wet. A towel is also advisable particularly if you choose the assault course where it is highly likely you will get wet. There will be shower facilities at the activity centre if you wish to use them.
- Trainers or shoes that are easy to walk in.
- A warm jumper or fleece for those chilly summer evenings.
- Waterproof coat, in case you need it for outdoor activities.
- A bag large enough to carry items in for workshops etc.
- A smart outfit for the Prom Dinner on Wednesday evening, e.g. girls should bring a dress or smart trousers/skirt and top; boys should bring smart trousers and a shirt with a collar – it’s not necessary for boys to hire a black tie outfit unless they desperately want to!
Bedroom Items
As you know you will be in same gender accommodation throughout the week and will be sharing your flat with five other Summer School participants and a Student Ambassador. You will have your own bedroom with en-suite shower room. The university will provide bed linen for you however you will need to bring the following items:

- Do not bring large amounts of cash with you!
Personal items
You will be issued with a key to your own bedroom on the Monday so you will be able to lock your possessions away each day while you are away from your room.
We advise you not to bring anything of great monetary or personal value as we cannot be held responsible for loss, theft or damage of these items
- You may wish to bring a few personal items to make your bedroom more homely such as a favourite duvet, posters, photographs etc. Your bedroom will have a pin board for posters etc. and we will provide pins for you. You will not be permitted to use blue-tac or pins to hang things on the wall.
- Please feel free to bring books, magazines etc. to take into your bedrooms to read in your spare time and also cards, frisbees etc for spare time when the weather is nice. You may also want to bring a cookbook or your favourite recipe!
- We are happy for you to bring mobile phones however these must be switched off during your academic sessions and social sessions when appropriate.
You may wish to bring an inexpensive camera with you to record your time at the Summer School. Again we cannot be held responsible for loss or damage of this item.
