UWE Year 12 Summer School

Activities and Events Planned for the Summer School

During the UWE Year 12 Summer School, you’ll take part in lots of activities, both academic and social.  We have a packed five days prepared for you!

Below you’ll find a brief timetable of events so that you’ve an idea of the activities you’ll be taking part in during your time with us.  When you arrive, we’ll give you a detailed timetable of your whole week.  In the next few months, you’ll also receive your transport plan detailing times you’ll be collected and dropped off for the Summer School.

Monday 21st June

You’ll arrive at UWE by organised transport in time for a welcome and lunch.  After lunch, you’ll be shown your flats, flatmates and the university campus.  In the evening, we’ll all head off to an Outdoor Activity Centre for a BBQ and activities.  Here you’ll get to know the other students, the Summer School team and hopefully have fun in the process!

Tuesday 22nd June

On Tuesday morning, you’ll have breakfast in your flats.  This will be followed by your first two academic sessions.  After lunch, you’ll attend workshops where you’ll be given information, tips and guidance on study skills, and student finance.  You’ll get to spend the evening cooking a meal with your flatmates then relaxing, watching DVDs, listening to music or playing games in your flats.

Wednesday 23rd June

On Wednesday you will take part in more academic sessions and will be given information and tips on the UCAS Application process and careers.  In the evening, you will have the opportunity to cook a meal again with your flatmates and relax for the rest of the evening.

Thursday 25th June

Thursday will be another busy day starting with breakfast in your flats.  You’ll then take part your final two academic sessions.  After lunch, you’ll spend time in groups creating a presentation about your experiences at the Summer School, and this will be followed by a mini graduation ceremony, to which your teachers and parents/carers will be invited.  In the evening you’ll dress up and celebrate with a three-course prom dinner followed by a karaoke disco!

Friday 25th June

On your last day with us you’ll have a chilled out morning, relax and get the chance to spend some time with all the friends you have made. In the afternoon, we’ll have lunch and say our goodbyes.

These activities have been pre-arranged however in the unlikely event that they do not run, alternative activities will be arranged.
