Student Ambassador Profiles 2008

Student Ambassador Faye Botting

Faye Botting I like:

Having fun, People-watching, Travelling, Languages, Socialising, Cats (I’m going to be one of those crazy old cat women!), Snow, The Sea, Spontaneity.

I loathe:

Public transport, especially Bristol buses! Not having enough money, Being late, Mosquitoes (they always seem to bite me more than anyone else!), Empty promises, Rude people.

Things I like to do:

Swimming, Sailing, Rowing, Camping, Attempting to ski, Ice skating, Meet new people, Going out with friends and dancing very badly to cheesy music!

Why I am a Student Ambassador:

Looks great on my CV, Good pay, Good fun, Meet lots of new people.

What I’m looking forward to at the Summer School:

Sharing my uni experience and encouraging people to go to uni! Meeting new people, Having fun.

How did I get to where I am now and what I’d like to do in the future:

I was born in Exeter, grew up in Nottingham and moved to Cornwall about 10 years ago, where I ended up taking A Levels in Spanish, Geography and Biology at 6th Form. I then came to UWE to study Adult Nursing, and have now made it to the end of my final year.

In August of last year I went to Finland for 4 months to undertake a placement, it was an awesome experience and I made friends for life, and even got myself a Finnish family complete with pet reindeer! I’m still undecided about what I want to do in the future, but at the moment I am applying for jobs in A and E. I’d also love to travel and work for an aid organisation such as the Red Cross.
