Higher Education "Taster Day"
at Bicton College
5th February 2008 |
 |
On a beautiful spring day Bicton College hosted an Aimhigher Foundation Degree taster morning for Level 2 and Level 3 National Diploma students. Five groups of students experienced a typical morning at Foundation Degree (FD) level. |
Animal Management students had a laboratory taster session learning about
reactive chemicals and measurable results. Agriculture students experienced a taster of farming studies at
higher education. |

Countryside Management students had a taster on sustainability.
Outdoor Leisure students had taster of FD Sports and Tourism. Horse Management students experienced a taster of the dynamic assessment of horses |
After a break there was a "speed updating" session held for all the students in the main hall where student support, finance, a current FD student and a top up BSc student had three minutes to inform the audience of reasons to chose to go on to a Foundation Degree or full degree. This panel were mercilessly thrown off at the three minute deadline; needless to say finance over-ran but handed out valuable information sheets about grants, loans and support. The verdict was that it was a fun and informal way to find out about higher education. |
