But . . . . is it for Me ?

Don't be put off by the maze of qualifications - decide what it is that you want and find the path that is right for you. There are helpful and knowledgeable people at each college who will be able to advise you no matter what your problem or concern might be. Talk to them, they are there to help answer your questions. But before you can decide what subject you want to take - which course and at what level - you might ask yourself a few basic questions.

  1. What are your interests?
  2. What sort of person are you? e.g.
    • A person who prefers to make things?
    • Who likes working with people?
    • Who prefers to plan and manage projects?
    • Who likes to work with animals or plants?
  3. What practical skills and/or academic qualifications do you have already?
  4. What experience do you already have?
  5. Where do you want to go, i.e. what sort of career would you like to have?
  6. Can you afford to undertake a full or part time course; e.g. do you have family commitments?
  7. How will you finance yourself and dependants, if you have any?
  8. Will you need to arrange a loan during your education?
  9. Is it important where you go to college?

We hope this website helps you make the next step to embarking on a path to an education in the landbased environment. Good Luck!
