About Aimhigher in the Southwest

What is Aimhigher in the Southwest?
Aimhigher in the Southwest is a programme of activities to raise awareness, aspirations, and achievement amongst young people who have the potential to benefit from attending Higher Education but who might otherwise miss out on the opportunity to do so because they come from social groups that are under-represented in Higher Education. By raising awareness, aspiration, and achievement we are working to help to enable them to have a genuine choice about the possibility of progressing
to Higher Education.
To see some examples of Aimhigher actitivies go to LIFE activities 2006/08 and Peninsula activities 2006/08 and West activities 2008. See also the Learners Profiles and the Aimhigher Schools Profiles
Aimhigher in the South West is made up of three autonomous Aimhigher Area Partnerships.
The area partnership in the West of England, Gloucestershire, Swindon and Wiltshire and North Somerset.
The area partnership in the peninsula of Cornwall, Devon and West Somerset.
The area partnership in Bournemouth, Dorset and Poole, and South Somerset.

The funding for Aimhigher regional activities is partly funded by the three Area Parnerships in the south west
and partly funded by the South West Regional Development Agency, SWRDA.
